Solution-
Role of Press-
Press or media can be considered as fourth pillar of democracy after the executive, legislature and judiciary.Mahatma Gandhi once said that freedom of press is a privilege that no country will allow to forego. Democracy is a form of government for the people,by the people and to the people.A democratic government to work properly needs a lot of participants in forms of citizens and these citizens can work in cooperation only if they know proper facts and true informations. Thus from here the role of press and media arises.Even during the starting time of the freedom struggle press played an important role to awaken the Indians about how British rule is bleeding India economically and it is only then that freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal
Nehru ,S.C Bose , Lala Lajpat Rai felt the need to make India independent. So here we can see the importance of press and newspapers that spread a valuable and correct information.Today also our country being a democratic nation requires press for the wellbeing of democracy.
Press should be free in democracy to ensure that correct information reach to people at correct time.Freedom of press also grants the citizens rights under article 19 of constitution that says freedom of speech and expression. Here a person can express his views on government that wether he agrees with the policy of the present government . If the government is doing something not appropriate for the future or present of the citizens than it is a free media that exposes the flawed policies of government.Free press thus ensures a good governance in democratic nation. So basically press or free media plays a crucial role in a proper and successful functioning of democracy. It is the functions of both legislature and judiciary to ensure free press in a country for the better future of our country .
