What opinion do you form of the British from this chapter

The opinion that we form of the British from this chapter is that they were simply taking advantage of the subservient attitudes of the Indians. The British had been harvesting the fears of the Indians, exploiting their weaknesses, and keeping them at their beck and call because the Indians did not have the confidence to stand up for themselves. But the minute things turned around and Gandhi led the way in defying the British and their unfair practices, the latter shut shop and moved on.
