What is the function of renette cells?

Nematodes possess a glandular system (secretary – excretory system) composed of renette cells unique to the phylum. Its function is believed to be something like an excretory system. Renette varies among the species. In many marine nematodes they excrete salt through a pore on the underside of the animal, close to the pharynx. Available evidences suggest that rennet cells takes part in molting, digestion and pheromone secretion, excretion of metabolic waste, osmoregulation etc.
