What is the difference between "though" and "although "?

As conjunctions though and although are interchangeable. For example:

Although it rained, the children went out to play.

Though it rained, the children went out to play.

Although is more formal than though.

Though can come at the end of a sentence. For example:

It might be unpleasant, though.
