what is the difference between SI unit and CGS unit

Solution
SI system uses MKS system of units. SI is an international standard so that the unit of length remains the same everywhere and there is no need to convert the units when communicating between different countries.

CGS and MKS (SI) are just a system of measurements, and that is the only way they are related.

CGS: C entimeter G ram Second

MKS: M eter K ilogram S econd

You can easily convert CGS to SI with the basic relations;

100 cm= 1m

1000gm=1kg

1s = 1s
