  • Open Switch : A switch is said to be open when no current is drawn from the cell, and the circuit is open or incomplete. In this condition the electric appliance is said to be 'off'.
  • Closed Switch : A switch is said to be closed when current is drawn from the cell and the circuit is closed or complete. In this condition the electric appliance is said to be 'on'.

When we open the switch,  the circuit is not completed and the bulb does not glow, also known as the OFF position, but, when we close the switch , the circuit is completed and the bulb glows, known as the ON position.

 Thumps up pls...
