what is the difference b/w miosos and mitosis

Dear Student,

Mitosis and meiosis are the two types of cell division. Mitosis is also called equational division as the number of chromosomes in the parent and the progeny remain the same. Meiosis is thespecialized kind of cell division that reduces the chromosome number by half (thus called reductional division) resulting in production of haploid daughter cells (gametes). It mainly takes place in the reproductive cells.

Hope this answers your question,

Cheers!!
