What is the central idea of the poem 'The School Boy'?
In this the poem the poet tells the feelings of a boy who does not like to go to school as he finds school a boring place with lots of work and no play. He hates to go to school. He likes to rise in the morning and accompany other birds in their singing. He does not like to attend school because he does not like to read the uninteresting or boring lessons of the textbook. He spends each day in the school disheartedly. The poet says that the child sits in the classroom with drooping shoulders and he does not take delight in books. He cannot learn anything at school because teachers go on lecturing. The poet compares the child with a bird in the cage. The child is afraid of the anger of other people and he is not happy at the moment of youthful spring or happiness. He is asking his parents that if the buds of the plants are nipped at the time of blossom then how can they be happy in the season of spring.
