what is micropyle and hilum in seed

Dear Student,

Micropyle is a small opening at the surface of an ovule. Through this micropyle the pollen tube enters the ovule.

A hilum is a scar on the seed coat, where the seed is attached to the pod and micropyle is the small opening in the seed coat, through which seed absorbs water to begin germination.
