What is meant by the line-'Embryos never pass through the adult stage of other animals'. ( Class 12: Biology: Evolution)

Dear student,
This statement is the line of Von Baere's theory of embryology. In this statement, it is stated that embryos of animals are generally similar, which further develop into adults are in no manner identical. This depicts that the adults are like branches of a tree, while the embryos are more closely connected.
