The energy possessed by a body when it is in the state of motion is termed as its kinetic energy.

kinetic energy of a body depends on its mass and its speed.
Its mathematical formulation is $K.E.=\frac{1}{2}m{v}^2$
 When our body is in motion, for example when we run or walk the energy possessed by our body is the kinetic energy at that point of time.
Characteristics:
1. More the mass, more will be the kinetic energy.
2. More the velocity , more will be the kinetic energy.
3. It can transferred into any forms of energy.
