What is a centriole, why does it duplicate and what is its function?
Centrioles are organelles situated in the cytoplasm close to the nuclear envelope in animal and simpler plant cells. They occur in pairs and lie at right angles to each other. It forms spindle fibres during cell division. It duplicates to form two sets and one set each moves to the opposite poles of the cell to form spindle fibres to pull a set of chromosome each arranged at the metaphasic plate.
