Rh factor is present on the surface of red blood corpuscles in many persons. Those persons having Rh factor are called Rh positive. Others who do not have this factor are called Rh negative. Therefore it is normal to have Rh -ve blood unless one comes in contact with Rh +ve blood.
A person who is Rh-negative (whose blood cells do not have Rh antigen) may have an immune reaction if Rh-positive blood cells enter their bloodstream during blood transfusion.
