What does this mean

In 'The Address', the narrator found herself in a strange situation when she went to Mrs Dorling's house for the second time. She remembered her family's silverware and other belongings which were now being used by Mrs Dorling. The painful memories of her childhood and her family made her uncomfortable, so she eventually decided to forget about the belongings and the address of her old life.
