What do we come to know about King Tut and his ancestors?

Dear student

King Tut and his ancestors were quite rich as evidenced by the amount of gold that was buried with him. He was buried in the Valley of the Kings, amongst his ancestors and other Egyptian royalty. His wealth has granted him legendary status, as it remains one of the richest collections ever found. We know that they also gave importance to everyday things that would help the king in the afterlife, like, a bronze razor, board games, undergarments, food and wine. Tut’s death is considered to be a major event, because he was the last of his line, and with his death, an entire dynasty came to an end.

Amenhotep III was his father or grandfather, who was subsequently succeeded by Amenhotep IV, the “wacky” King who changed religious capitals, changed Gods and destroyed idols of the major God Amun. After the next brief and mysterious reign of a king named Smenkhkare, King Tut took the throne and looked to the restoration of the old ways. But even that did not last long as the Pharaoh is said to have died mysteriously in his teenage years, after a reign of merely nine years.
