In 1848,a French artist  Frederic Sorrieu prepared a series of four prints visualising  his dream of a world made up of democratic and social republic. People of America,Europe ,men ,women of all ages and classes marching together ,paying homage to the statue of liberty. Remains of the symbols of absolutists monarchies.
  • He grouped people into different nations having their different flags and costumes .
  • A female holding torch of enlightenment and charter of right of the man.
  • He created other prints in 1850 depicting the universal suffrage calling for giving right to vote and he also depicted the tree of liberty.
  • His other print the one on bidding farewell to men sent to exile also depicts men being sent to French colonies.
  • Through these prints he tried to create a sense of identity among the people.
