WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES AND PRINCIPLES THAT WERE DESIRED TO BE ACHIEVED THROUGH THE INDIAN CONSTITUTION ? 

Dear Student,

 Our constitution identifies the following principles:

a. Constitution serves as the document that specifies the rules and regulations according to which the country functions. 
b. It establishes a system based on the rule of law, which identifies that government will function as per set norms, rules and not according to whims and fancies of a ruler. It is these rules that govern the citizen in a country
c.  Our constitution  
starts with We the people,which implies it we the people as a whole our country, gives ourselves this constitution, which is set of rules and regulations according to which government would function. We the people , represents that the constitution so farmed is for the people, by the people and of the people, The constitution has been framed by our representatives and is all inclusive and representatives in nature.
d. Sovereign- People's right to decision making both internally and externally
e. Secularism - Freedom of religion to people and that there is no official religion. It implies no discrimination on the basis of religions and  equal respect for all religions.
f. Socialist- to ensure economic equality where government would establish control over economy, to bring about socio economic equality and to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.
g. Democratic.- Government based on the will of the people, it implies government is based on popular consent and that people participate in the political process
h. Republic- head of the state will be an elected one and that there is no hereditary monarchal system.

i. Our constitution also reflects the Values of liberty , which implies freedom of thought, expression, of participation, of faith, belief and conscience  are an integral part of our political system, Equality implies no discrimination on any basis and that equal set of opportunities for all to develop, Justice implies fair play and no discrimination by law, Fraternity aims to uphold the very identity and dignity of individuals and allows for mutual cooperation and a feeling of brotherhood among the people.

All the above principles and  values have been reflected in various provisions of our constitution for instance in Fundamental rights, in Directive principles etc.
