What are limitations of tidal & wave energy?

The tidal energy is not likely to be a potential source of energy in future due to the following limitations:

1-Less availability of suitable sites for building tidal barrages around the world.

2-The rise and fall of sea water during high and low tides is not enough to generate electricity on a large scale.

3--Start up costs to build a tidal energy plant is high.

Limitations of wave energy:

1-Since waves are erratic, the amount of energy a wave generator can produce is unpredictable and, therefore, cannot be used as a sole reliable energy source.

2-High initial capital costs.

3-Equipment should be strong to stand against rough weather.

4-It Can harm the marine ecosystem.

Tidal energy is the kind of energy that exists because of the relative motion of the Earth, Moon, Sun, and the gravitational interactions between them. A big advantage of tidal energy is its predictability. The size and time of tides can be predicted very efficiently.
 
The main difference between tidal and wave energy is that the relative motion of the Earth, Moon, Sun, and the gravitational interactions between them causes tidal energy. Whereas, wind is the cause of wave energy.
 
Both tidal and wave energies are renewable sources of energy.

if speed of water is less than 15 km/h then the turbine construted over there will not run...n thus energy won't be produced...

energy frm tides can only b harnessed by constructing dams ,so only limited sites r dere

applicatons of sea wave energy r only theoretical no practical model has been done
