Dear Student,

Galactans are the Polysaccharides that are composed of galactose derivatives. Galactans along with cellulose, mannans and minerals like calcium carbonate forms the algal cell wall.

Mannans are also polysaccharides that are composed of mannose. They are present in hemicellulose and also occur as reserve polysaccharide. They are found in yeast, bacteria and plants.
