What are coordinates ?

Coordinates of a point is defined as:

A(x, y)

where x is the distance from y axis, y is the distance from x axis .

 Say there is a point A whose coordinates are (5, 4)

This means that the point A is at a distance of 5 from y-axis and at a distance of 4 from the x-axis.
