what are baculoviruses?

Baculoviruses are group of rod shaped viruses that attack insects, other arthropods and other invertebrates but have not been found pathogenic to vertebrates including humans yet. Their expression system is a tool used by scientists to make genetically engineered proteins from insect cells and serve as another bio-pesticide which are used as a biological control agent against insects and other arthropods.
