when the blood sugar level is below normal then he/she should take glucose either orally or IV. The normal range of blood sugar is 80 to 110 mg/dl. If the blood sugar is lowering below 60 the person will feel severe diziness, sweating. That times imediately takes glucose

Almost never if the problem is fluid loss ...
But if a person needs IV nutrition then only glucose can supply the calories.

Mostly when a person is severely dehydrated. One might think that the drips would be pure water in this case, but if pure water were used, the blood would be too diluted. So a solution of glucose and electrolytes is used instead.

it is given when a person is not able to eat or is not allowed to eat.

There are many possibilities. Often, the patient is not allowed to take anything by mouth, BUT it may be necessary to provide nutrition or medicine or blood transfusion by vein. Keeping the D5W glucose solution running in by a slow drip allows for immediate access to the vein for all of the above. Anything given through an IV (intravenous) route works fastest to treat the patient. If the IV line is open and a patient needs to get more than one medicine by IV, keeping an open drip of glucose avoids having to stick the patient's veins many more times.

Taking a drip of glucose has many reasons like : This is required when the patient does not have enough glucose or when he or she is too weak by bleeding, diarrhea and cant take the food by mouth, etc.
