Think of a number . Double it . Add 18 . Take away 10 . Have it . Take away 4 . Now , what do you get and why?

This is called magic number trick. Make a magic number trick of your own.

Let the number thought of be x.

On doubling, it becomes 2x. Adding 18, taking away 10 and again 4 makes it 2x + 4.

From here you can ask the user to tell the number thus obtained; then subtract 4 from the number and divide it by 2 to find the number that he initially thought.

There are more interesting, sophisticated and cleverly misleading number tricks like these. There's no magic, all are solvable by linear equations in one variables itself (mostly).
