the volume of a solid metallic sphere is 616 cubic cm.

let the height of the cone be h =28 cm

let the radius of the base of the cone be r cm.

the volume of the cone = volume of the metallic sphere

$\frac{1}{3} π r^{2} h = 616 \frac{1}{3} * \frac{22}{7} r^{2} * 28 = 616 r^{2} = \frac{616 * 3 * 7}{22 * 28} = 21 r = \sqrt{21} c m$

therefore the diameter of the base = 2r = $2 \sqrt{21} c m$
