The value of P in the linear equation

3 (P+7) = 5P - 7 is

A) -14 B) 14 C)-17 D) none of these

Please answer fast as I have school Tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3(P+7) = 5P - 7

LHS = 3(P+7) = 3P + 21

RHS = 5P - 7

Thus 3P + 21 = 5P - 7

3P + 21 + 7 = 5P - 7 + 7

3P + 28 = 5P

3P - 3P + 28 = 5P - 3P = 2P

28 = 2P therefore P = 28/2 = 14

Thus option B) 14 is the right answer.

(Recheck by substituting the values of P and see if LHS = RHS when not sure)

  • 5

=3 (p + 7) = 5p - 7

=3p + 21 = 5p - 7

=3p - 5p = -7 - 21

= -2p = -28

= 2p = 28

= p = 28/2

= p = 14

hope it helps!!!!

  • 2

=3 (p + 7) = 5p - 7

=3p + 21 = 5p - 7

=3p - 5p = -7 - 21

= -2p = -28

= 2p = 28

= p = 28/2

= p = 14
