the pitcher plant and venus flytrap are green plants that can photosynthesize.why do they need to feed on insects

the pitcher plant and the venus flytrap are green and can photosynthsize but they remain with some deficiency of nutrients. So to fullfill this deficiency they feed on insects.

Plants like Pitcher plant and Venus Fly Trap grow in soil which is defiecient in nutrients such as phosphurous and potassium. So they don't get the entire nourishment through photosynthesis and hence they trap insects to fulfil their requirements

They feed on insect to take the nutrition from them for nourishment

  • 3

they feed on insects for nutrients

It is correct thatpitcher plantsare green in colour as they have chlorophyll and so can photosynthesize. But these types of plants grow in nitrogen deficient soil ( such asswamps or bog areas) unlike other plants. So, to fulfill their nitrogen demand , they trap insects and eat their proteins and this is the reason they are called as insectivorous plants.Pitcher plant can live without insects also but it would be healthier if traps and digests insects. So, Insectivorous plants are partially autotrophic and partially heterotrophic.

They can perform photosynthesis but they grow in soil which deficient in minerals. By the process of photosynthesis they do not obtain minerals they need for growth, even if they do it is not sufficient. So, for their need of nutients they feed on insects.

Oh wow Pranali I think experts will give you the Best answer award

  • -1

because these plants are not rich in soil .the food which get from photo syntheises they start supplemting it

  • 4

They feed in insects because the soil in which they grow , does not provide them necessary nutrients for their growth. They obtain these nutrients from the insects.

  • 16

They need to feed insects because need nitrogen which is provided by insects.

  • 4

they need to feed on insects as they grow in nutrient deficient soil .in orderto obtain these nutrients they feed on insects

thumbs up please

yes

  • -1

They need to feed on insects because of nitrogen been not present . They need to feed insects

Deficiency Of Nitrogen. (100 % Sure)

  • 2

because the soil in which they grow is deficient of nutrients

  • 3

because they grow in areas which are defficient in nitogenus substances and the soil is deficent in nutrients thus to fulfil their needs they feed on insects

BECAUSE THEY DON'T GET SUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF NUTRIENTS FROM PHOTOSYNTHESIS.THAT IS WHY THEY FIND OTHER WAYS OF GETTING NUTRITION

because the soil in which they grow is deficient of nutrients

The Pitcher plant and the Venus Fly Trap are plants which are green in colour and performs photosynthesis, thus they are known as Autotrophs and their mode of nutrition is known as Autotrophic Mode of Nutrition. But they also follow Heterotrophic Mode of Nutrition and traps insects or small animal because in the soil in which they grow are deficient from nitrogen.
  • Autotrophs- the plants which follow autotrophic mode of nutrition.
  • Autotrophic Mode of Nutrition - The plants which can perform photosynthesis and make their own food by themselvesare called autotrophs and their mode of nutrition is known as Autotrophic Mode of Nutrition..
  • Heterotrophic Mode of Nutrition - The plants which cannot prepare their own food and depend on other organisms for their survival are called heterotrophs and their mode of nutrition is called Heterotrophic Mode of Nutrition.

THE INSECTIVOROUS PLANTS FEED ON INSECTS TO FULFILL THE REQUIREMENT OF NITROGEN.

THUMBS UP PLEASE

Write a report on animal activists opposing the present process of getting silk from cocoon. Why do you think they are against it.

They feed on insects even though they can photosynthesise as the soil in which they are found are deficient in some types of nutrition so to fulfil the need of such nutrients they feed on insects

Venus fly traps and other insectivorous plants have evolved to supplement their photosynthesis by capturing insects and extracting nutrients from them because they grow in soils that are low in or completely void of nutrients. Feeding on insects gives them a boost to be able to grow more quickly.

Here are the names of 5 more insectivorous plants (latin name first followed by the common name):
1) Sarracenia - North American Pitcher plant (there are many species including leucophylla, rubra, oreophila, purpurea, and more)
2) Darlingtonia californica - Cobra Plant
3) Cephalotus follicularis - Albany Pitcher Plant or Australia Pitcher Plant
4) Nepenthes - Asian pitcher plant (again, there are many species)
5) Drosera - sundew (again, there are many species)

these plalnts grow in the soil which is deficient in nitrogen so they trap insects to fulfill their nitrogen deficiency

pitcher plant and Venus flytrap grow in soil which has nutrients such as Rhizobium ,Pottasium . so they do not get full requirement they want hence they grab insects through pitcher like structuter with  a lid

To fulfill need fo nitrogen.

these plants have chlorophyll but they mainly live in areas where the soil is defficiant in nitrogen therefore to obtain their demand of nitrogen they eat insects.

as they grow in soil not having nitrogen they take their nitrogen from insects

They need to feed on insects because these types of plants grow in areas where there is a deficiency of nitrogen. These types of plants like sundew, bladderwort, venus flytrap and pitcher plant feed on insects and obtain nutrition and nitrogen from them.
