Silver halides have low solubilities in water as compared to alkali metals halides. Explain

Alkali metal halides are ionic in nature. Hence they readily dissolve in water, which itself is quite polar (like dissolves like). On the other hand, silver halides are insoluble in water. This is because silver halides have some covalent character, and we know that covalent compounds are insoluble in polar solvents.
