Resources are vital human development but using resources generates lot of problems
Dear Student,
a. Resources are important for the sustenance of human life and also for maintaining the quality of life. Resources are basic requirement for economic development be it land, water, energy resources, minerals.
b. Both industrial, agricultural sector require resources to remain functional and to ensure production.
c. However, there are problems associated with the usage of resources. We have witnessed indiscriminate use of resources, accumulation of resources in the hands of few have widened the gap between the rich and the poor.
d. Over exploitation of resources have damaged the environment leading to severe ecological crisis like pollution, land degradation, global warming etc.
e. It also leads to extinction of many species of plants and animals.
f. Thus, to ensure equitable distribution of resources, optimum utilisation of available resources and to prevent depletion of resources resource development and planning is important.
g. We have to judiciously use our limited resources and conserve them because of their growing consumption and the potential scarcity. Thus, work towards sustainable development, look for alternatives, use non conventional sources, to bring about conservation of resources.
h. We thus, have to look for sustainable model of development , which aims at preserving resources for future generation and integrattes economic development with environmental protection.
