Q.17, Plzvsolve it and explain:

17. Three identical metallic plates A, B and C are initially given charges Q, 4Q and 2Q respectively. Now the plates A and C are connected by a conducting wire and plate B is earthed then.

(A) charge on the inner surface of plate A is 2Q.
(B) charge on the inner surface of plate C is zero.
(C) charge flown through the connecting wire from plate C to A is Q.
(D) charge flow to the plate B from ground is - 7Q.

Dear student,boundary conditons will be,Potential of A and C will end up being the same (they are connected)Potential of B will be zero (it is grounded)Charge will distribute according to the capacitance. so, the plate B will accumulate a charge of 3Q in order to exactly cancel the 3Q charge on the outer plates.Electrons "in the ground" will either be pulled towards the plates or repelled. Their movement will adjust the charge on plate B until there is no field - at that point, there is no energy to be gained by charges moving.so the charge distribution will be as follows0  on the outside of A and C2Q on the inside of AQ on the inside of C2Q on the left side of  BQ on the right side of  BHence the correct option is (A)Regards
