plz explain the content under transverse nature of electromagnetic waves

Here we consider that waves are composed of tiny oscillating particles (like photons in electromagnetic waves).

In a transverse wave the particle displacement is perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation. See the figure below for further explanation

 

As shown above the particle moves up and down about the man position (the x-axis) with varying displacements about it. The direction of propagation of energy is perpendicular to it, that is, in the positive x-direction.

Light is a form of a transverse wave.
