When the government increases the import duties on the electronic items, it wants to reduce the demand for consumption of foreign products and make our country self sufficient.Import duties were raised in order to boost local manufacturing and boost the growth of manufacturing of electonics in India. This will reduce the demand of foreign currency and hence lead to fall in foreign exchange rate.
