MY PET

Each day as I return from school I am greeted by my pet dog Pluto. His big brown eyes light up with joy. He barks excitedly as he takes the strap of my water bottle in his mouth and runs in to inform mother that I have come.

Pluto is a brown Labrador. My father gifted him to me on my birthday. He loves to dig and bury bones in the garden. True to his breed-The Retriever, he later takes it out and eats it. He is very faithful. No outsider can enter our house. He barks so loudly that we all know there is someone at the gate. He doesn 't bite but his huge size scares people. When any of us are ill he sits at our bed side looking sad.

Most part of the day he sleeps and remains awake at night to guard the house. He makes a good watchdog. The water pond in our garden is his favorite playing spot. He jumps in whenever he feels hot and plays in the water. My mother gets very angry with him. She now has extra work to dry and brush him. My parents regularly take him to the vet to have him de-wormed once in three months.

He is also given vaccinations and anti-rabies injections. We regularly remove all parasites and keep him clean to remain healthy. After all the love and the joy he gives us, this is the least we can do for him. Pluto loves to eat fruits like apples and bananas. He is an unusual dog.

My mother makes him a soup with green vegetables, chicken and rice every day. He loves milk and special dog biscuits for breakfast. Some days he eats egg too. He is my best buddy, and makes me laugh all the time. I love my pet and he will remain my best friend forever.

MY GARDEN

We live in the Salt Lake City in the eastern part of Calcutta. It is a newly developed area, where people from different places have come to settle. Our house is too- strayed, with a small garden in front of it.

We have a serï½vant named Raghu who looks after the garden in addition to his domestic works. But I am not always happy with his work in the garden, although he cleans the soil, waters the plants and sometimes mix fertilizers with earth powder and puts them at the roots of the plants in order to nourish them.

But I think that Raghu has no technical knowledge about flower plants. He does not perhaps know that all the plants do not require water everyday for their sustenance. Some need water everyday, while some need it every alterï½nate day or only once in a week.

My father marked my special interest in Botany. Once day he asked me to take charge of the garden. So at present, I am regularly guiding Raghu to do the correct things in correct time; and the results are wonderful.

During the last season, the daliahs in our garden grew in large size, and the roses of various colours and sizes looked very attractive. Every year grows season flowers which enhance the beauty of our garden, but they do not last long.

The best attractions in our little paradise are the three bougainvillea plants grown together in a twisted pattern with their three different colours-white, red and yellow-covering the bow-shaped grill connecting the heads of the pillars of the main gate, in front of our garden.

MY SUMMER VACATION

The summer holidays are the days of recreation and rest since these days come after hard work. These days come after the declaration of the school result. As the holidays began, I was enthused to plan for the period. I did not have to think much of the examination.

I was only thinking how to spend the vacation pleasantly, in visiting places, in reading of literature. I sought permission from my parents to pay avisit to Puri, a place that has fame all over the world. I had a desire to visit an ancient temple. I had heard of the attractive features of Puri with all its pictures que beauty from one ofmy friends. Its climatic condition on account of its location close to the seaside further attracted my mind to pay a visit in summer.

After the declaration of the result on 6th May, I caught the Talcher Puri train. The journey was interesting. I reached Bhubaneswar first and there I visited Lingaraj temple, the caves of Khandagiri and Udayagiri to know the historical importance of the places. Next day I went to Puri from Bhubaneswar by bus. The temple of Lord Jagannath is sacred for the Hindus. The temple has a spacious yard surrounding it.

The attractive feature of the temple is that even the lowest caste people partake the Prasad offered to the gods with the highest caste people. The people of the highest caste do not reject to this tradition.

The crowd the place draws during summer is large. We offered our bhoga to the Lords. In the evening I spent the time on the sea beach enjoyed the cool breeze of the summer nights. The heat of summer was not felt there.

From Puri I went to Berhampur by bus. There I lived in one of my friend 's house. I visited the movie, held talks with other friends. When I went Tara Tarini temple at Berhampur with my friends we had to climb hills. The passing of the evenings on the sea beach was indeed joyous. On my way back to home I did not miss the opportunity of visiting the zoo at Nandankanan.

As the school was to be opened on 15th June, I had to put an end to my pleasure trip there. I had no much money make further journey. I had got the pleasure of sightseeing. I engaged myself in the revision of my lessons of the previous year. I paid undivided attention to studies in order to make up for the time lost. Since I spent the vacation in moving new places I began my lessons with a refreshed mind and a cheerful heart. I felt as if my journey to those Places increased my capacity for work.

HOPE IT WAS HELPFUL :)
