On selling a tea-set at 5% loss and a lemon-set at 15% gain, a crockery seller gains Rs. 7. If he sells

the tea-set at 5% gain and the lemon-set at 10% gain, he gains Rs. 13. Find the actual price.

let the cost of tea set and lemon set be x and y respectively.

if he sells a tea set at 5% loss and lemon set at 15% gain.

loss on tea set = x*5/100

gain on lemon set = y*15/100

total gain =

if he sells tea set at 5% gain and the lemon set at 10% gain, total gain = Rs. 13

therefore

multiplying eq(1) by 5 and adding eq(2):

substitute y = 80/- in eq(1):

thus the actual price of tea set is Rs. 100 and the price of lemon set is Rs. 80.

hope this helps you.

cheers!!

 let cost of tea set=x

letcost of lemon set=y

atq

15y/100-5x/100=7

atq

5x/100+10y/100=13

15y-5x=700

10y+5x=1300

by elimination 5x will be cut

25y=2000

y=80

x=100
