Name the gastric glands .

Dear Student,

There are three types of gastric glands namely the intermediate glands, the cardiac glands, and the pyloric glands which are located in different region of stomach and formed by the mucosal lining of the alimentary canal.

1) Intermediate glands are located in the central regions of the stomach. These are narrow tubules which secrete HCl (hydrochloric acid) and intrinsic factors.
2) Cardiac glands are found at the beginning of the stomach where the oesophagus joins to the stomach i.e in the cardia region. They are responsible for the secretion of mucus.
3) Pyloric glands are located in the cavity of the pylorus (connects the stomach to the duodenum). It causes secretion of gastrin that is released by their G cells.
