"my grandmother excepted her seclusion with resignation". these lines are taken from the lesson ''the portrait of a lady''. but this is the universally accepted fact that the older member of the family have to accept seclusion one or the other day. comment

Dear Student,

After the narrator went to university, he was given his own room. The common link of friendship between the grandmother and the narrator snapped. She accepted her seclusion with resignation. She rarely talked to anyone, spending her spare time on the spinning wheel, reciting her prayers and feeding the sparrows. This was her life until her death.

We witness this kind of life amidst us everyday. Our grandparents and older members of our family are distanced not only through age but time too. We no longer spare time for them and become busy with our lives. People who spend their adulthood cherishing and protecting us accept their alienation when they are supposed to be cherished. Just like the author's grandmother, we too lose our older members long before their physical death.

Regards.
