Gland is an organ present in the human that synthesises particular chemical substances for use in the body or for release of substances such as hormones.
These are of two types:
1. If a gland releases its secretion into the bloodstream then it is known as endocrine gland.
The endocrine glands include the thyroid, parathyroids, anterior and posterior pituitary, pancreas, adrenals, pineal, and gonads. Also called ductless gland .
2. If a gland releases its secretion into cavities then it is known as exocrine gland. Example: sebaceous glands
