mention two steps taken by the british to collect taxes in the rural areas
Following are the two steps by which the British collected tax from rural areas:
1. They appointed the local rajas and taluqdars as landlords and gave them the responsibility to collect tax and then pay revenue to the company.
2. the other method was that the British appointed their own collectors who collected taxes from the rural people, however the farmers and local artisans were heavily kept under dues always.
Hope it helps
