Mention the negative impacts of railways in India

Dear Student,
Answer to your question is as follows:

Railways were developed by the Britishers mainly for two purposes, firstly, for the transportation of finished goods of British industries to the interiors of India and secondly, for the transportation of raw materials from different regions of India to the ports. In this way, the railways helped in the expansion of markets for the finished products of British industries. Further, the railways facilitated the commercialisation of agriculture. This commercialisation of agriculture helped in increasing the exports for the country. However, India could not benefit from the increased exports, rather the self-sufficiency of the farmers in food grains got hampered.
