Mention any three causes of excessive current in household circuit.

Overcurrent or excess current is a situation where a larger than intended electric current exists through a conductor, leading to excessive generation of heat, and the risk of fire or damage to equipment. Possible causes for overcurrent include short circuits, excessive load, and incorrect design.

SHORT CIRCUITING--THE TOUCHING OF LIVE AND NEUTRAL WIRE IS KNOWN AS SHORT CIRCUITING.THIS MAY HAPPEN IF THE WIRE HAS COME OF DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR AND THE 2 NAKED WIRES TOUCH EACH OTHER.

OVERLOADING --THE SECOND REASON IS THAT WHEN TOO MANY ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES ARE CONNECTED TO A SINGLE SOCKET  THEY DRAW EXTREMELY LARGE CURRENT FROM THE HOUSEHOLD WHICH MAY CAUSE OVERLOADING.

SORRY, FOR HAVING ONLY 2 REASONS .BUT I AM TALKING GENERALLY.HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND.
