Manuscripts were basically hand written text of a particular period became an important source.They provided detailed account and information of a particular period. 



 
Inscriptions are the written records engraved on stones, pillars,clay or copper tablets, caves and walls of the temples and monuments
 However, manuscripts are  difficult to use.Scribes used to copy manuscripts and made changes thus, the same text became substantially different for historians to study. Original manuscripts of the original author are rarely found today.
Historians are dependent on the copies made by scribes. 

 
They are reliable sources of information about the history of any period. It is more easy to comprehend.
