Kindly explain the meaning of the given line:

"They talk endlessly in a spiral that moves from poverty to apathy to greed and to injustice."

On being asked about organising themselves in a cooperative by the narrator, the group of young men replies that it would be a vain effort. Their conversation goes on to describe the inability and futility of forming such a cooperative. While listening to their unending conversation, the narrator feels that they are trapped in the spiral of poverty, indifference on part of authorities, greed and injustice. Even if they form a group, there would be no one to listen to their plight.
