According to the Archemedes principal
when body floats over the liquid,
Weight of the body = upthrust
weight of the body is define as = $V\rho g$
where v is volume of the body and $\rho$ is the density of the liquid.

upthrust = $V_l\sigma g$
where V_l is the volume of the liquid displaced and $\sigma$ is the density of the liquid.

$$\begin{gathered} V\rho g = V_{l_{}}\sigma g \\ V\rho = V_{l_{}}\sigma \end{gathered}$$

so volume of the body in liquid only depends on the densities of the two.
It will not be get affected when system moves upward or down word.
hence volume in the liquid will remain half.
