Dear Student
The poem “The Sea,” by James Reeves, presents the reader with a whole new imaginative and different side of the sea. The poet compares the sea and a dog which are two completely unrelated things in this world as they are in fact very alike and share many similarities. The poet uses the following phrases "canine imagery"; “clashing teeth and shaggy jaws’, ‘he gnaws’, ‘bones’, ‘licking his greasy paws.”to establishes the vivacious nature of the sea with that of dog . In this way the dog symbolise the sea.
