is the rain the ultimate source of water?

@ Rahul : No, rain is not the ultimate source of water. The ultimate source of water are the water bodies which are present on earth which includes large oceans, seas, rivers etc. Rain is only the way of water returning to their sources which they have lost by evaporation. The rain is caused by condensation of water vapors present in the atmosphere. These water vapors comes from evaporation of water from the various water bodies, which are the ultimate source of water. If there would have been no water in these water bodies, there would have been no rains.

ayushi, you are wrong , rain is a ultimate source of water because the rain water fills the water table if the water table is not fill the likes , ponds etc are not filled

If we are talking about the water cycle, then after the water in ponds, rivers, lakes gets evaporated, if the process of precipitation or rain, dos'nt take place, then there would be no water anywhere.
