Yes, it is possible to grow plant in absence of sunlight.

example: 

There are three plants which do not require sunlight for their growth.

Hostas,  hydrangea and violets
Note: Sunlight is essential for the green plants and autotrophs because in absence of sunlight they are unable to prepare their food by the process if photosynthesis.
