Associative property is not same as commutative property.
 
Let a and b be two whole numbers.
Commutative property:
a b = b + a (Commutative property of addition)
a � b = b � a. (Commutative property of multiplication)

Let ab and c be three whole numbers.
Associative property:
a + (b + c) = (a + b) + c (Associative property of addition)
� (b � c) = (� b) � c (Associative property of multiplication)

suppose we have the numbers 3,4,5.

associative law= 3+(4+5)=(3+4)+5

commutative law=3+5+4=3+4+5

so in associative law we can group them any way but the answer will remain same and in commutative law you can change the position of the numbers but the answer will remain the same.
