in the expanded form why are you counting the hundreths place before the tenths place

Hi!

Thanks for letting know your concern to us. I have checked the complete lesson in the study material and there was no example where the digit in the hundredth place was compared(or considered) before the digit in the tenths place. If you still feel that the digit in the hundredth place was compared(or considered) before the digit in the tenths place in the lesson, then mention the specific step(s) and do get back to us we will be happy to help you.

In the numbers 5.67 and 5.63, their whole part (5) and the tenth parts are equal. Therefore, we check the next part i.e., the hundredth part. The hundredth part in 5.67 is greater than the hundredth part in 5.63.

Therefore, 5.67 is greater than 5.63.

Cheers!
