In some authoritarian government , the main political party chooses the members of the legislature. Why do you think that this is not followed in a democracy and members are directly elected by the people?

Solution-
A system of government, in which there is a single party dictatorship, the state is all powerful and the individual is subordinated to the state is known as a totalitarian regime. The democratic government means a government by the people, of the people and for the people. So in democracy the leaders or members of legislature are choosen as the representative of people of their respective areas , who makes policies for the betterment of their people while in parliament. So as a democracy is government by people and for people so the members of legislature are choosen by people instead of a particular party as in authoritarian governments like China.
