in methane there is no single bond between two carbon atoms then how is it an alkane?

The Alkanes are the Hydrocarbons following the general formula of CnH2n+2 , where n is the number of C atoms. And there is no such rule that an Alkane should contain a C-C bond. So, methane is one carbon containing alkane.
