In a hand at whist, what is the chance that the four kings are held by a specific player?
Please Explain.
In a game of whist, four players are dealt with 13 cards.
A hand of a specific player can contains all 4 kings and other 9 cards.
So 4 kings are chosen from 4 kings, and other 9 cards are chosen from 48 cards.
Hence number of ways 4C4 * 48C9
And the total number of ways 13 cards are dealt to a player is 52C13
So probability = (4C4 * 48C9 )/ 52C13
= 0.002641 (Ans)
